Homeless Services
At Volunteers of America Chesapeake, our specialty is helping those who need our help the most. Through a network of emergency shelters, hypothermia prevention programs, drop-in centers, cold-weather shelters, transitional housing programs and affordable housing resources, we not only meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable people in our communities but provide them with the support they need to become self-sufficient.
Last year our network of programs provided emergency shelter & supportive services to more than 1,100 homeless individuals, children and families. We also provided drop-in support to nearly 2,000 individuals, children and families at risk of becoming homeless.
Services are provided both on-site and through referral to other community providers and include:
- Case Management
- Housing Support and Placement
- Vocational Training and Placement Assistance
- Educational Opportunities
- Mental and Physical Evaluation and Health Care
- Life Skills Training
