About
VOACC serves as the Entry Point for the City of Durham’s Homeless HOPE (Housing Opportunities & Pathways Engagement) System. Through Coordinated Entry with Diversion, we provide a welcoming front door for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing crises in Durham. Funded by the City of Durham, our goal is to help households quickly identify safe and stable housing solutions, connect them to community resources, and, whenever possible, prevent entry into the homeless service system through diversion and problem-solving assistance.
What will Entry Point Durham do for me?
Entry Point Durham is a trained team that helps individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness identify solutions and navigate available housing resources. Our Entry Point Durham team will:
- Listen to your situation and understand the challenges you are facing.
- Ask questions to better understand your housing needs and service needs.
- Explore possible solutions to help resolve your housing crisis.
- Connect you to available resources, which may include emergency shelter, health care services, street outreach, housing programs, and other community supports.
- Work with you to identify safe alternatives to homelessness whenever possible, including diversion options.
- Refer to shelter and housing programs in Durham when appropriate and available.
Entry Point Durham is not a housing program and cannot promise shelter or housing. Entry Point will work with you to help resolve your housing crisis and will refer you to shelter or housing programs if they will be helpful and are available.

Yes. Entry Point Durham will help you identify a safe place to sleep tonight. Emergency shelter beds are not always available but going to Entry Point is the only way to access shelter at Urban Ministries of Durham and Families Moving Forward.
Entry Point is not a housing program. Entry Point will work with you to help resolve your housing crisis and will refer you to shelter or housing programs in Durham if they will be helpful.
Everyone experiencing a housing crisis or homelessness in Durham County is eligible to receive services from Entry Point. If you are not currently experiencing homelessness in Durham County you should seek services in your home county.
Entry Point is the front door program to help people facing homelessness resolve their housing crisis. Entry Point is not a DSS program, but DSS programs might refer you to Entry Point. Entry Point is connected to the homeless service provider network in Durham. Entry Point will work with you to help resolve your housing crisis and will refer you to housing programs in Durham if they will be helpful.
Entry Point is in the Human Services Building during the day Monday through Friday. The Human Services Building in Durham also includes other resources besides DSS, such as health care resources and Veteran resources.
