We asked Benjamin a few questions…
What about VOACC inspired you to join the Board of Directors?
While I am new to the Board, I am not new to the organization. In 2017, I relocated to the Northern Virginia area and Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas was my first audit client. I served as the audit manager for approximately five years. I remember the first Harvest for Hope event I attended. Hearing all the amazing success stories and how the organization impacts such an underserved population, I knew right away this was a special organization and VOACC quickly became one of my favorite audit clients.
When the opportunity came to join the Board of Directors, I was honored. I am extremely excited that our paths have crossed again and am looking forward to serving VOACC in this new role.
What are you looking forward to the most in your role on the Board?
I look forward to the opportunity to bring my financial experience in nonprofit financial management to VOACC.
What does being “Called to Care” mean to you personally?
I’ve spent my entire career solely working in the nonprofit sector using my education and expertise to help organizations fulfill their missions. For me, “Called to Care” means going beyond the basic requirements of a role and truly investing in the well-being of individuals and communities. It’s about making a positive impact and being a source of strength and encouragement for those who may be facing challenges.
