Senior Vice President of Clinical Strategy
As Senior Vice President of Clinical Strategy, Sheryl A. Neverson is responsible for enhancing Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas’s clinical impact through leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the organization has the proper tools to effectively drive growth and sustainability in integrated health and human services.
During her tenure at VOA Chesapeake & Carolinas, Neverson has led her team through the implementation and growth of integrated behavioral health services that reach children, youth, adults, and veterans. She has done this through a trauma-focused lens to improve client engagement, health outcomes, provider and staff wellness, and to decrease unnecessary utilization.
Prior to her tenure at VOA, Neverson served in leadership positions for outpatient mental health organizations in the District of Columbia and built her private practice for mental health services and consultation. She currently serves as an Adjunct faculty member in the School of Social Work at Howard University in Washington, DC where she teaches in the direct services program track.
Neverson is a licensed social worker in the District of Columbia and Maryland and is a certified Social Work supervisor. She serves as a board member for the Maryland Community Behavioral Health Association where she is dedicated to impacting legislation to support the growing behavioral health needs of constituents. Neverson is also a mother, sister, and caretaker who grew up in Prince George’s County Maryland. She is a passionate advocate for social justice and eliminating behavioral health disparities for underserved communities.
