Anthony “Gib” Gibson

Senior Vice President of HR & Administration

As Senior Vice President of Administration, Anthony “Gib” Gibson provides executive leadership for the core administrative functions of Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas (VOACC), including Human Resources, Organizational Development, Housing & Asset Management, Facilities, and Compliance. In this role, Gib is responsible for the integration and execution of VOACC’s Vision 2030 Strategic Plan, ensuring alignment of all administrative, regional program, and housing operations with organizational priorities. He leads efforts to drive strategic growth, maintain regulatory compliance, and advance mission fidelity, ensuring the organization meets its workforce, infrastructure, compliance, and housing objectives while supporting VOACC’s ministry and “church without walls” identity. 

Gib joined the VOACC family in 2024 and brings more than two decades of strategic human resources leadership experience in large acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, government, and education and training. Before joining VOACC, he served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Tenet Healthcare and was based at the Detroit Medical Center, and as Vice President of Human Resources at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. 

Gib holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and African American Studies (double major) from Indiana University and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Strayer University. He is also pursuing a doctorate in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Human Resources Leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University, where he serves as an adjunct professor teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the DeVoe School of Business. 

A committed servant-leader, Gib is an ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, with over 30 years of pastoral experience. He was the 7th International President of Presiding Elders (2017-2025) and serves on the denomination’s Global Missions Board. 

Family remains central to Gib’s life. He and his wife, Belinda, are the proud parents of three adult sons and doting grandparents to two grandchildren. They enjoy international travel, civic engagement, cooking at family gatherings, and above all, creating moments that bring joy to their grandchildren.
