Larry Ogunjobi

NFL Athlete & Community Leader

Larry Ogunjobi is a first-generation Nigerian-American born to Larry & Mercy Ogunjobi on June 3, 1994, in Livingston, NJ. His family moved to Greensboro, NC, in 1997, where his younger sister, Faith, was later born.

As a young man, Larry struggled to find his purpose—until a divine encounter at a summer camp in high school. A coach encouraged him to find hope through football, a moment that changed his life. Larry and his family attended Spirit & Truth International Church in Greensboro, where he frequently sought prayer, wisdom, and direction for his journey.

Larry graduated from Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, NC, earning multiple scholarships before choosing UNC Charlotte. He became a pioneer of UNCC’s football program 🏈 while double majoring in computer science and biology.

In 2017, Larry made history as the first-ever NFL draft pick from UNCC, selected by the Cleveland Browns. After four seasons, he joined the Cincinnati Bengals. When an injury threatened to end his career, faith and hope in God led him to healing and restoration.

Beyond football, Larry is committed to giving back. He leads football camps, backpack drives, and food shelter initiatives and has launched his own foundation to serve underserved communities.

On June 21, 2022, Larry signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, recently completing his 8th NFL season with 124 games played and 333 tackles. He was nominated for the 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award by the Steelers, honoring his impact on and off the field.

Larry gives all glory to God as the source of his hope and success, supported faithfully by his family—especially his mother, whose prayers sustain him daily.
