Kristina Lauren

Kristina Lauren (she/her) is a poverty law attorney in Hampton Roads. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from The George Washington University, as well as a J.D. and an LL.M. in Human Rights. Her policy work focuses on expanding criminal record relief for human trafficking survivors. She was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 2019.

Kristina has lived with and volunteered for vulnerable communities on both coasts, including in California, D.C., and her home state of Virginia. She has extensive experience addressing violence against women, particularly domestic and sexual violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. She is committed to advancing marginalized individuals and communities facing systemic barriers to justice.

In 2019, she founded a mutual aid group that provides costumes, candy, and decorations for Halloween celebrations at children’s service providers and shelters throughout Tidewater. Never one to sit still, she also turned her law school stress-baking hobby into cupcake giveaways that raise funds and awareness for important causes.

A tattoo enthusiast for over 20 years, Kristina has collected more than 200 hours of artwork (so far). She is now channeling this passion into a transformative justice initiative that connects survivors with trained, trauma-informed professionals in tattoo studios and laser removal centers across Virginia.
