Please join the entire VOACC family in welcoming Dr. Sheryl Neverson to her new role as Senior Vice President of Clinical Strategy.
Dr. Sheryl Neverson has been with our Chesapeake and Carolinas affiliate for approximately 4 years, serving as our Vice President for Maryland. Sheryl has a Ph.D. in Social Work from Howard University with over 27 years of experience in the field. She is an outstanding clinical leader who is licensed as an independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), licensed as a Certified Social Worker (LCSW-C) and has served in several adjunct faculty positions with Howard University’s School of Social Work , Howard University’s College of Medicine, and Yale University’s School of Nursing. Sheryl is a lifelong learner and educator who has presented repeatedly at local and national conferences. Sheryl has been instrumental in expanding behavioral health services in MD. She has added new programs, developed innovative ways to deliver services and has developed solid community partnerships. She has been a leader in our efforts to enhance our clinical expertise by leading behavioral health integration efforts, developing clinical interns and providing ongoing clinical trainings to our staff and community members. In addition, she serves with the VOA National office’s efforts on Health Equity.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to expand the work I’ve done in Maryland with integrating behavioral health throughout all of our programs. Working to increase the clinical impact in District of Columbia……. will continue to improve access to care for our underserved populations.”
Dr. Sheryl Neverson
Under her leadership, Maryland added outpatient mental health services, which led to several additional substance use disorder and behavioral health services launched as well as primary care. Maryland expanded the number of clinical staff for the organization, raised the bar for Evidenced Based Practices, and expanded community-based services. The programs earned additional CARF accreditations, and the Residential Reentry Center recently earned its ACA renewal accreditation. Sheryl has strength in grant writing and program design. Maryland has successfully been awarded several difficult-to-earn awards, such as the DOL VOA Works program, SAMHSA CCBHC, and SAMHSA CMHC.
Sheryl is an outstanding leader who is always willing to help where needed. She consistently demonstrates a commitment to those we serve and models our affiliate’s core values (Visionary, One Body, Integrity, Compassion, Excellence, Faith).
Please help us congratulate and welcome Dr. Sheryl Neverson into the SVP of Clinical Strategy role.
