My story began with losing my job. Then I had cancer and I was fighting for my life. And that led to me losing everything that I had. I’m a person that most of my life I gave to others. I cared a great deal about people. But when it came to me, I didn’t put a lot into me.
Stories
Talking openly about mental health and substance abuse is not always easy. Many of us are afraid we'll be judged and treated differently. By coming together as a community and sharing our personal stories, we can help break the stigma and encourage others to get the support they need.
About People Like Us
People Like Us is a community-wide campaign led by Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas and their partners to give hope, break the stigma and support recovery for underserved community members in Prince George’s and Baltimore Counties in Maryland.
