5 Weeks of Giving

Dr. Sharon Jones-Eversley, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Associate Professor, Towson University, Shares her view on giving:

To me, giving is like oxygen, and it has the instant capacity to literally pump hope, strength and unconditional love into the heart, lungs and being of a fellow woman, man, boy or girl who feels lost and alone.

In other words, giving is a real and tangible way to provide encouragement. By giving, we encourage someone else in a nonjudgmental way to hope and move forward!!!

I love the way the Message Bible states Luke 6:37-38

“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life a lot easier. Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.” (

During Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s Five Weeks of Giving, thank you for your generosity to provide life-giving spiritual oxygen to those in need.
