Homeless Services

A Holistic Approach to Mitigating Homelessness

About

A multifaceted program that provides extensive services to prevent, support and help to end homelessness. The primary goals are to assist households from homelessness to permanent housing and prevent at-risk households from becoming homeless. Program staff utilizes evidence-based practices such as Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Housing First approaches and low barrier programming to motivate, empower and support households experiencing homelessness.

Types of Programs offered

Rapid Rehousing Program

Operated with Virginia Homeless Solutions Program, an entity of the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. This program provides financial and case management resources to households that are literally homeless. VOACC works with local landlords to quickly move eligible households into permanent housing while providing case management and other supportive services to ensure housing stability.

Permanent Supportive Housing Program

VOACC works in partnership with Loudoun County to operate this Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on-site and community based program. VOACC provides 8 onsite efficiency units to individuals who have qualified for permanent supportive housing with a documented disability; proof of HUD defined chronic homelessness and completed a vulnerability assessment. Families that meet eligibility requirements are placed in the community in scattered sites throughout Loudoun County. We work in partnership with clients to develop Individualized Progress Plans that enable and encourage housing independence and stability. This program is a housing first approach that provides supportive resources and services to clients to assist them in recovering from the trauma of homelessness and overcoming barriers to further successes.
