Resident Stories

Gregory Evans
Originally from Montgomery County, MD, Gregory Evans had experienced homelessness for the past 4 years and struggled with alcohol and meth abuse. In the program, Greg has been working towards recovery through detox and treatment programming. He has also been connected to housing and is in the process of applying for his own apartment.

“Hope Has a Home™ has saved me when I was at the end of my rope. I had been in and out of the hospital several times and the program gave me a place to get back on my feet and the program has helped me to get healthy, so I can return to the real world.

Ronald Haynes
Ronald Haynes is local to Washington DC and has been living with his children for several years, but has had difficulty managing his various medical concerns and was frequently admitted into the hospital. Since he was admitted to Hope Has a Home™, he was able to apply and receive his retirement benefits to better meet his needs since he was no longer able to work and has been able to manage his COPD and identified that he was also diabetic and has been able to begin receiving treatment for this new condition.

“This respite program has helped me to better myself. The staff on duty have helped with helping me to manage my health.”

During his time in the program, he has been able to begin physical therapy for his hip replacement surgery to help increase his mobility and plans to return to work as a truck driver. Larry has goals of traveling in the future and we are also assisting him in obtaining his passport.

“I have been in many programs before, but here, I feel like I am getting things done.”
