Healing Conversations

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas is a Christian church without walls. Our spiritual development and growth targets are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. In an ideal world justice would reign. However 2020 gave us a clear vision as to how often injustice reigns. In Dr. King’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail he wrote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”.

The church has been called to speak out against oppression, defend the marginalized, live as peacemakers and to lead our communities in reconciliation and transformative change. As citizens, we have rights, but as Christians, we have responsibilities to intervene on behalf of others. Spiritual development involves “losing one’s life in order to find it”.
