Did You Know?

A mental illness is a condition that impacts a person's thinking, feeling or mood and may affect his or her ability to relate to others and function on a daily basis. But recovery, including meaningful roles in social life, school and work, is possible. Yet, many people with a mental illness do not get a chance to live meaningful lives because on average, Americans with major mental illness die earlier than the general population.

What does this mean?

It means that while recovery and living a full life are possible Americans with a mental illness are not reaching the full benefit of this possibility because they are dying earlier.
