Loudoun Emergency Homeless Shelter
Located in Leesburg, Loudoun County, Virginia, Volunteers of America Chesapeake's Loudoun Homeless Services Center is an innovative and comprehensive facility comprising four programs:
- Loudoun Emergency Homeless Shelter
- Drop In Center
- Loudoun Transitional Housing Program
- Cold Weather Shelter
In 2003 Volunteers of America Chesapeake began operating the Loudoun Emergency Homeless Shelter. This is a 44-bed shelter with an 89-day program offering intensive case management, life-skills classes and children’s services, as well as providing basic necessities like food and shelter.
In September 2009, the Loudoun Emergency Homeless Shelter moved to a new facility, which is now its current location on Meadowview Court.The new location expanded the capacity from 24 beds to 31 beds for single women and families and added 13 beds for single men.
In October 2009, Volunteers of America Chesapeake also began operating the Drop In Center; a program offering day support services to homeless individuals.The Drop In Center is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Clients can use the Drop In Center to take a shower, wash their laundry, get a hot meal, make phone calls and receive mail. On an average day, the Drop In Center serves 15 single men and women.
