Bailey's Crossroads Hypothermia Shelter Program
With its home base at the Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter, this emergency hypothermia shelter program operates seven days a week from December through March. Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter is funded by the Fairfax County Government to bring these essential services to the county.
The hypothermia shelter serves single adults who in the warmer months of the year manage to find shelter on their own - most times, outdoors. A true community effort, local faith congregations partner with Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter allowing their facilities to be used to house these individuals overnight.
Volunteers of America Chesapeake also works with members of the local community to provide guests with a hot evening meal, a warm, safe place to sleep each night and a bagged breakfast to take with them when they leave in the morning.
